Update: its A pony full weekend 5/8/15

Well Its taken 5 months to prepare. butt from  this weekend from the 7th- to the 9th Bronycon 2015 in Baltimore is happening. I am going to be vendoring over there as one of the only international artists selling my popular MLP art work. (which is the first thing you will find if you type my name in to Google) 

I have a ton of exclusives I have made especially for the con. so if you happen to stumble upon this blog and your going this weekend please stop by my table, you will not be disappointed. :)  

the downside to this amazing opportunity is that all the preparation for Baltimore has eaten in to a lot of my personal time for my other art projects, some of them are fairly new but I will keep them in the dark for now. As soon as I have recovered from america I will get back on track with my more original work , I have plenty of new ideas that need to be turned in to a reality.

Jowy shenaggins/ update 20/5/15

Hello All this is a bit of a general update about the blog as well.

I have noticed my blog updates have been a little less regular the last few months. I think this is mostly due to a lack of content with my original work. The fan art I do practically in the Brony fandom has been bringing me in a lot more exposure and money and because I have a genuine passion for MLP I have been relying on that a lot. And now with vendoring at the convention Bronycon in the sates this august I have dedicated my spare time to getting a lot of pony art done for that con.  Do not worry I am still going to be working on the comic Humanisation.com  and my own original characters and worlds. But sometimes you just have to go with the thing that is giving you some income and creative inspiration. I hope to keep posting on here more often with sketchdumps and updates to personal projects. But because of the convention season kicking in I am not promising there will be a lot of big updates.

Still I do have some art to show you.

Jowybean Update 8/4/15

Good morning all

Its a much needed Update post 

 I have been keeping things secret for a while due to the amount of things I need to cover in this post 

Its no surprise that I have wanted to keep this blog as separate from my fan/brony art as much as possible and restrict it to personal work and projects. However recent events which are related to my freelance business have promoted me to mention the exciting news I am about to share with you. and its better I update this early rather then later. :) 

If you search my name Jowybean on google your bound to find my MLP/ pony titlecard art first. I Joined the fandom 4 years ago and have gained quite a following thanks to the amount of brony content I make almost each week since 2011. recently I have helped create an eight page comic for an artists collaboration charity project called Bound Together.

Because of my success online with MLP I have vendored at pony conventions here in the UK called Buck and Ponycon UK and from this made a good or decent profit each year, Which has inspired me to vendor at more cons in and outside not just pony cons). 

This year I am going international for vendoring in August 2015 in the USA at the mother of All pony cons Bronycon. essentially its like the Comic Con of the pony fandom). I am super excited about this opportunity not being to the US since 2005 for a family holiday to New York city.

The two ponies in the middle are the OC's i use to represent myself in the Brony fandom 

Now on to other updates not to do with MLP

Humanisation.com for those of you who are not aware is a comic project collaboration with my dad about the internet becoming a living reality . We have released the first issue on here and DA.We have started working on the second issue. We plan to have them printed to sell at various comic/geek conventions later on in the year. 

In the last few weeks I have been in the process of getting

an actual professional online portfolio/ website made that will be called Jowybean Studios or just Jowybean.This will be a platform to showcase my original and diverse bodies of work from storyboarding to commissions. 

On top of al this The website designer I am working with is part of an agency in Birmingham UK called Nubi. Which I have been asked to join as an illustrator. A lot of people connected or are friends with the agency have taken a fondness to my work and Will most likely give me some proper paid jobs that will counteract the fan commissions I get every month on DA. 

There are other sites I need to desperately update my content on like Red bubble Behance and Elance as well as finding new creative platforms  to continue to expose my unique art.

Since I have been accepted for Bronycon I have to now spend Marjortly of the next four months putting together prints and exclusives to sell at the convention. except for Humanisation.com, this in turn is going to affect some of my personal projects I had planned As I really want this to be the best con experience I can get abroad, and If i put the hours in it will pay off. There will a lot of amazing creative professionals in the Brony Fandom at the con so I will get to rub shoulders with these people and potentially find more future work or make connections, this is is the plan. :)

This year so far has been a challenging balancing act of doing professional/personal and fan/MLP work But I am happy to say I can getting a good grasp on both areas of my practice and managing just fine.

Jowys time at Ponycon UK 2014

back from UK ponycon2014.

It was a very relaxing and family friendly event. It was not as Brony centered which made a nice change. I did a lot of coloured OC commissions and sold a bit more of my old stock from Buck con  this year which is awesome.

 I also made some new contacts with some of the other artists there. All in All this was a better experience then Buck 2014 and i will be going next year for sure.

Badges were very popular

This is another Brony artist / friend of mine Thomas or as he goes by online Misty Dash.  I meet him at my table at Buck a year ago but got to know him really well at his table this year. He even got awarded the best stall which is really cool considering this was his first time vendoring.

This was one of the best none Friendship is Magic cosplays at Ponycon UK Eille was also a vendor there (I do apologize if I got her name wrong). She is cosplaying Reeka one of the antagonists of the My Little Pony: The Movie from 1986 or as fans refer to it as the Smooze movie. honestly the bad guys are much more memorable and entertaining then the ponies are. Its worth watching just for the villains and their songs. 

I did a pony commission for her as well.

I am going to be vendoring at another mlp convention next weekend called UK ponycon 

After Buck 2014 i have been making changes to my work pattern by creating a brief for a fake month long project. each month I will challenge my skills as an illustrator in new interesting ways giving me a better chance of being seen by the creative industry to do freelance work for it. while still being involved in the Brony community i want to continue to do Freelancing and conventions.

After Buck 2014 27/8/14

Hey everybody i have just recovered from the chaos filled weekend that was the UK Brony convention BUCK 2014.

I did rather well with my vendor table this year not as successful as last year . But I got to meet a lot of awesome fans, get a handful of commission to keep me busy for a while. And meet some of the quote "horse" famous people in the fandom.

One of the biggest highlights for me was getting to know the other vendors there on a personal level and exchange contacts with them. Mel from Geek Stitch who i was next too was super helpful at telling me about other conventions I could try selling my fan and original work to.

The times i did no vendoring I made silly signs to put on my table while I was away somebody wanted to buy this sketch XD. 

I had a lot of interest but no one really could afford it. :(

On the sunday I offered to do coloured pony OC commissions for £10.

To conclude BUCK 2014 was a lot of fun. But i want to try some other conventions for next year as suggested by Geek Stitch.

commissions 26/8/14

Commission I did a while back for The-L-Train Gitaroo Man song The Library Jam

The guitar Princess Twilight is holding is based on the main characters bass from the PS2 game. Also the soundtrack to Gitaroo Man is fantastic i suggest you all check it out (I thank L for introducing me to it.:) 

Fan Commission 21/8/14

pony Commission I did for a DA artist of a human Vinyl Scratch which was a lot of fun to do. And it was finished in a record time of 5 hours. Something like this would have usually taken me longer like 8 to 9 hours. But I was quite surprised how fast I did this without lowering the overall quality of the piece.

This weekend I will be vendoring at Buck the UK's only Brony convention fort a second year in a row. I am most well known online for doing a lot of pony art. Specifically Title cards based on the episodes and will be selling prints of that series mostly along with A2 and A3 (limited addition) prints , postcards, phone cases, christmas cards badges and even original sketches.

Jowy Shenanigans updates 28/11/13

Been a good couple of days since the last update but making time for it tonight.

Hello everybody last Saturday was a busy and productive day because it was the Crafty Muthas i had mentioned once or twice about. Un like the UK pony con Buck I did not make a lot of money but still broke even with the equipment and tools i needed to sell my various works but i exchanged contacts with a lot of people (some I knew from years ago old friends really) who were interested in my caricature cartoon work i started doing recently. And i sold off a lot of my old art from when i was 9 and 10 as that was received really well. I was utterly surprised at how many young adorable kids were bronies too i had one young girl there throw a lot of 1p coins on my table for a pinkie Pie and Princess Luna print which just made my day. And just talking to them about Best pony was marvellous and made me realize that there are lots of kids who love ponies as well as us crazy obsessed adult fans. Couple other things to say about the event, I have been invited to three other potential events this December to show case and sell my art, which is exciting. Some of it is for charity. I still have quite a few commissions to do online but I hope a lot of the people who took my cards will come back for a cartoon I want to keep myself as busy as possible over Christmas I tend to get lazy near the end of the year.

 SEASON 4 OF FRIENDSHIP IS MAGIC STARTED and it did not disappoint) I joined in on a live stream of the two parter episode as it was such a big deal for a lot of fans including me i had a little interview on the stream near the end of it which in UK time was about 2:55 I think. It was called Brony Bash and you can check it out on you tube (if you really want to). It was a long long stream and I joined the tail end of it. I competed my title card for the part 1the next day (Sunday) and managed to get a recording of the process.

I started a Tumblr right now I use it to archive my sketches, ideas and anything else.

Its got a silly name as well I always think way too big when I start new online profiles but I know that’s not how online creasrtivty works in this day and age. I have so many ideas to bring to life that I have lost my ability to get bored or lazy.
