Update: its A pony full weekend 5/8/15

Well Its taken 5 months to prepare. butt from  this weekend from the 7th- to the 9th Bronycon 2015 in Baltimore is happening. I am going to be vendoring over there as one of the only international artists selling my popular MLP art work. (which is the first thing you will find if you type my name in to Google) 

I have a ton of exclusives I have made especially for the con. so if you happen to stumble upon this blog and your going this weekend please stop by my table, you will not be disappointed. :)  

the downside to this amazing opportunity is that all the preparation for Baltimore has eaten in to a lot of my personal time for my other art projects, some of them are fairly new but I will keep them in the dark for now. As soon as I have recovered from america I will get back on track with my more original work , I have plenty of new ideas that need to be turned in to a reality.

Back from a Bucking good time at BUCK pony con 5/9/13 (horrible pun and title for the post i know)

An exclusive A3 digital painting i made that sold out at BUCK very british 

 Howdy everyone

I am still recovering from the awesomeness that was BUCK pony con 2013 in Manchester's Bridgewater Hall two weeks ago. Goodness where do i begin you know i was tempted to just vblog about my experiences like i did in the old days when I was on YouTube I would rather not and talk about the highlights in brief detail. I have so many great memoires and people I meet to remember BUCK by. I am proud i stayed and survived for the entire thing from Friday nights Summer Sun Celebration (a rave music concert of fan favourite artists) to late Sunday nights closing ceremony which was entertaining to say the least.

Of course the big deal about this con and the reason I brought it up on this blog was because i was going to sell my pony art as a vendor and take commissions there. (no photos of table sorry). It went very well no complaining or issues with the organization of the venue. I never realized I had quite a fan base for my MLP title card series and most bronies recognized me from that I had couple hugs off them as well.

I did not sell out like I thought I initially would but I most certainly broke even with the money I made from this event, which for a first time vendor is incredible.

But the business side was not my biggest highlight it was meeting other bronies from across Europe and the U.S (was not just UK fans) and show casing my ability in drawing and sketching. It was like the old days when I was 9 and 10 selling my art in galleries and I would be demonstrating my talents in front of crowds.

I even managed to meet some of the VIPs at the con including Michelle Creber a talented young VA and singer on friendship is magic. Gave her a personal drawing I did as an early birthday present she loved it, So that was just the icing on the cake to what was a floorless convention. My patents were helpers on the two days and they were surprised by how humble and pleasant our fandom is they did so well with managing my table.

 Only two downsides I can say that happened during the con.

 I almost destroyed my phone when it feels out of my pocket by mistake at the Summer Sun Celebration. 

 My hotel toilet flushing mechanism fell off while I was away on Sunday.

Right now I am in the middle of a pony commission haul since I was taking a lot of requests from fans there. Lineart / sketches were done during the weekend others I have been working on at home because of the requirements of my tablet and Photoshop.

It’s being a busy last week and a half but it’s been great practice for time management and balancing workload.

So much so that all my other passion projects have had to be put to one side for a while since I am making money off this venture and at the end of the day a creative has got to earn his income somehow folks. Look at the artists who draw and paint Marvel and DC characters for a living ponies could become pretty that for me if I keep going with the commissions a living .

Have no fear though the graphic novel project Humanise.com will still continue. I will try and post up a new submission for Illustration Friday each week to keep my crazy juxtaposing world of illustration going in my mind.   

For now this really is just a phase I am going through and I am going to enjoy it as much as I can and not worry about tomorrow.

Jowy Shenanigans 22/2/13

its very bothering that there are no railings along most of york cities walls  which did scare me uh a little for kids safety 

OK This has been a family focused week since we went down to York to see how my sister was settling in to university life after only four months. She’s been doing so well that I think we agree with her that she would rather not come back to Birmingham.

During my day visit to york city I did something I have not done in a while a bunch of observation sketches. 

Also I developed on the world of Jowy some more looking at backgrounds and new characters that could fit in to the crazy cast of characters I already had.

This is a rather short post because my 22^nd birthday is tomorrow and I am excited for it or at least optimistic so I want to get an early night so I can experience the day wide awake.

There’s lots more to show but I will share that stuff after the big day

Jowy Shenanigans 11/2/13

Here we are again folks its been snowing outside today, I had my sister over the weekend back from uni. I talked for hours on Skype with brony friends and I am still working hard and boy what a weekend it was for said word.

The 10yearitch site that I have been doing paid illustrations for since last week asked me to design a FB banner for (to sound redundant) their FB page so it would give their services more publicity and it had to incorporate the logo as well. The time scale on this piece was shorter and there were a couple modifications to the design along the way.

The client wanted an Indian inspired character right below the Like button so It would look like he was pointing at it so you would be more tempted to hit that like and check out the site. They asked for a version without the boy and instead replace him with a tiger to show the wildlife of India.

The colours yet again were very vibrant showing the warm climate of the country. I really enjoyed colouring all these illustrations in because I learned more about my personal chose of colours and moods when doing digital art.

Their were a couple of changes in the final as you can tell I had to shrink it down to fit in to the FB cover dimensions the sky was a little too dark for the clients liking even though I personally thought it brought the back drop forward. And the character had to have his hand redrawn to actually point at the like button.

I look forward to the next job I get where I can explore my adaptable styles in illustration some more.

Humanise.com comic project update time

CADRA and Mutt (main characters) will be happy to know that their masters have returned to the comic project Humanise.com today Hazzah lol. I got some actual page layouts done not draft ones but detailed thumbnails following the script I posted last month.

once i have finished drafts of these pages they may make a lot more sense ^^;

Its good to get back to this project and I feel confident about the story a lot more now that I have some layouts to look over and start actually finishing while asking advice from my Dad whose the writer of the series.

I am fairly busy with other shenanigans this week so there is not going to be much posted this week.....maybe but I shall do my best as always to upload and update as regularly on here as much as I physically can.

Jowy Shenanigans 8/2/13

Consternated on the 10YEARITCH website job for the second banner design. Tried to get it to a similar standard as my first banner. This time it was for the destinations page and i wanted to look at other icons to represent India then going with cliché or copycats of the pervious design. 

India is a fascinating and colourful country 

the flute character was taken out because the clients felt he seemed out of place or unneeded and the text was changed to the web address so my art work could stand out a lot more. 

Looking forward to the next lot of work I do with this site but this weekend I want to spend some time on the other projects that need some loving and attention.

Plus I need a haircut ^^;
