Humanization.com comic update 2/23/16

So the reason why I posted nothing on here last week was because I have been going through the pages of issue 2 of my ongoing comic project Humanisation.com.  Want to make sure it reads well and the speech bubbles are positioned in a good position with the art. that is all being drawn in traditional media minus the front cover. 

The front cover of issue/ level 2 has just been finalised and I will be in the process of getting it printed in the next week or so. 

I will try and get back in to the swing of things on this blog ASAP.

Jowybean / Humanization.com comic update 2/6/16

Its been Needed in a good while but heres both an update on me and my Humanization.com project, Its all positive news as well. 

Humanization dot com comic update / Preview.

Get ready to get hyped guys cause as of today I have just finished inking in the last two pages of Humanization dot com issue/level 2. Its taken longer then it really should have to get to this stage but YES its finally done phew.

I must say I am very happy with the outcome of this both in art and story.

The last two things we have to do before I upload / print it. Is proof read the pages and edit the script.

I am going to take a few weeks off from this project to focus on my Nine World prints and other commissions. But rest assured I plan to get back in to the routine I had for issue 2 with issue 3 and hopefully get that finished even sooner then 2.

hope you are as excited as I am for this, its going to get a lot more interesting from here. And I am going to be spreading it around the web a lot more often so get used to that XD.

Next thing 

Conventions.

If you are familiar with my blog or work you may now that I have vendored at exclusively Brony fan conventions like Ponycon UK Bronycon and BUCK and its no surprise I  will be there again this year. 

However I do have another con I am  vendoring at and the best part is its not brony related at all .This con is called Nine Worlds and its on in London from the 12-14th august.

For the best part of may I have been working hard to produce some high quality art prints based on all manor of geek stuff to do with games, Movies, Animation, etc (maybe you can guess from these WIP snapshots what they are ;).

I still have a few more ideas in mind but these are the current print ideas I have almost finished. I will most likely keep the process of these updated on here as well as my other online profiles. This is a big opportunity for me to branch out in to the more mainstream side of geekdom And I want to put out the best work I can not just for my personal artistic development and craving for change but for the enjoyment of people and the fans who endeavor in this culture .  ;)

Also this will be where I will be releasing the second  and first issue of my Humanization dot com comic.

There are a few big projects I am currently involved in, but due to respecting my clients I can not say or mention anything about them sorry. But maybe in a couple of months I will be able to share them with you then.

The plans for the blog have changed some what I enjoy putting out my experimental music sketches and sketch dumps So I aim to upload something to do with that every week , if I can.

Obviously this may vary and will most likely not have a lot of consistency This entirely will depend on the amount of work and commissions I have on the go. I just started using People Per Hour and already have competed 3 jobs in the last four weeks  so I am going to be putting my focus on sites like that from now on.

Anyway Thats all I have to say for now .

Wow i have not done any Illustration Friday pieces in a while. But starting this week i want to make it a regular thing no matter what the quality is. for the time being Its more about the visual ideas i imagine from the words rather then creating stunning finished illustrations.

Great News for Jowybean 19/1/14

Hello all a lot has happened this month alone.

Today as i post this will be my Last day of proper freedom for a while because i have got a brand new full time job. 

I had to leave my current job as a graphic designer at this small graphics and signage company because i found out about this great opportunity to work for a silverware company that have been looking to employ an illustrator/art worker to help them create presentations for clients and create illustrations for the range of objects they make. I went for a chat /interview last Monday and my enthusiastic response to their company and desire to get a real job rather then stay online doing my brony commissions. Helped convince them i was the best person for the role.

I had a nice send off from my old boss on Tuesday with chocolates and a mlp toy wishing me luck in this new job i am about to start tomorrow morning at 8-5. Much longer hours and less breaks then the other job but that’s a sacrifice i am happy to make. I can still attend my annual brony meetups on Friday night so i am not losing out on my social life either. 

Naturally i am little nervous about the job hoping it does not get boring or stressful. But from what i saw from Mondays visit its  going to be very engaging and creative, cannot wait.

Content may be sparse on the blog for a while i will try and make updating the blog a regular thing so the hiatus between posts is not huge.

unexpected Jowy Shenanigans updates 17/11/13

This has come up at just the last minute and is going to make my week that little bit busier. My good old university BCU has invited me to a showcase-networking event on Tuesday where I could really spread the world of Jowybean around lol and exchange contacts with other businesses. There’s over 100 attendees going to it and some of us are getting a table so I need to prepare for it fast. I have my table booked but I need to gather together a proper portfolio for the event.

Crafty Muthas fair this Saturday coming (23^rd nov) I am still going to. I believe these two separate events could make or break my freelance business but this year has being mostly exploring and taking risks and so far it’s all paid off really well.

I usually do not show my super sketchy sketches because of my perfectionate mind but these are drawings based on my own characters who i have grown to adore and enjoy drawing more . Not as much as ponies but i am making space in my busy creative life to doodle them at least

Illustration Friday Submission: Street Secret Unlocked

This Weeks theme is.... Secret

As a previous full time gamer (when i was a teenager) .Secrets in platform games were always a win in my books whether it was bonus points or just a new puzzle to tackle always kept me occupied for longer in the world i was playing Rayman was the first game series i saw this happening. 

Like last weeks and future submissions the image is a mixture of real life studies from different  media with my crazy zany juxtaposing imagination.

i hope to refine my digital painting skills in the future challenges i still have a very rough style when it comes to digital art usually.

Jowy Shenanigans 3/11/13 big update

CHECK IT OUT  J A NEW UPDATE 

Busy month ahead folks not just because of my new graphic design job with UK Print and Media. Biggest thing i am doing is vendoring at the local craft fair Crafty Muthas Sat23rd in my local church. Preparation has been underway for the fair this weekend I even have created some exclusive Christmas cards for the event. Also been Putting together the prints i will be selling (even throwing in some BUCK prints and prints of my old art that got me started on the path to illustration). I have such an amazing story on how I got started as a young artist but I should save that for another day not enough energy to type it all out today lol.

Usually I would be going to the big comic con up in Leeds called Thought Bubble but to save time and money for my U.S con plans for next year. I am missing it this year a little sad :( about it obviously. But I have a bright creative future ahead :excited: and want to keep the distractions to a minimum if possible I still have not touched GTA 5 in weeks or caught up with my YouTube subscriptions. :nuu: :stupidme:

Because of all these shenanigans I have postponed the development on my Jowy web comic and Humanise.com, :no: which I am a little disappointed to stop But I have to concentrate on the markets I am currently involved in to break into something then nothing. Please still support and check out the projects on my DA account we will return to them soon enough it's not dead. :phew:
Plus I am making the effort with illustration Friday again so you can always see my :crazy: zany illustration style there.

 Season 4 of ponies is starting around the same weekend exciting stuff so do not surprised to see the occasional pony drawing uploaded to FB the fandom is going to explode all over the internet and I will be helping in the spread XD. Just kidding …..OR AM I :evillaugh:

Jowy Shenanigans 19/10/13 big update

As my dad would sarcastically say “Hello you o,rrible lot” and welcome to another update on the world of Jowybean let me bring you up to speed with what’s happening in my busy consistent creative life.

Number one the job at the graphic Design sinage company UK Print and Media is going extremely well. So far no complaints at all, my boss Akeel (who I have become real good friends) with has been very firm with the tasks that need doing with in the week and i have found myself surprisingly enjoying the programs Indesign and Illustrator. Really makes you think about the level of professional quality in your work and art. Graphics is not something I have touched or paid attention too since college which was four years ago so it’s a nice breath of fresh air to be doing it again with a better mindset.

Next month there’s going to be a local 2-day handmade craft fair in my town called Crafty Muthas. Now the name obviously implies that its targeted at one particular audience (as there’s a lot of craft fairs in England that are similar to this). I emailed them a brief description about me and my products I was going to sell, my DA gallery links and talked about the whole MLP brony thing. Two days later they emailed back saying they had a space free on one of the two days for me which is cool I would personally like too do both days but the fair is very popular with creative mothers that its only right that it should be broken down in to two days to give all vendors a chance.

I am going to be bringing most of my work I brought to the showcase event I attended two months ago to Crafty Muthas. But since it’s near to Christmas I am going to be creating some new Xmas cards both pony and non-pony to sell there started work on two last week.

Third no shocker too some of you, still doing pony art and commissions its very additive fun. I am slowly getting a good income from this not as much as my real job of course but still all this money will go towards my planed trip to the US pony cons next year or Comic Con depends how productive I am in the next few months. Considering I have hardly touched any of GTA 5 in the last 4 weeks proves that laziness and boredom are becoming less coherent as they used to be.

I apologize if this comes off as egotistical and pride fall but I personally believe that I should get paid for my art from now on what ever type it is that’s why I do not accept any requests that much on DA its just very time consuming and I have to make a living off my talents at some point friends.

 first week I helped Akeel design a welcome home banner for his cousins son who with his wife just had an adorable baby girl and were coming home from the hospital. One thing lead to another after I meet Akeels cousin and I ended up being commissioned to do a caricature of them both together with their baby from one photo. =D 

Stupidly I forgot their names but they loved it I herd so that’s the important thing.

Back from a Bucking good time at BUCK pony con 5/9/13 (horrible pun and title for the post i know)

An exclusive A3 digital painting i made that sold out at BUCK very british 

 Howdy everyone

I am still recovering from the awesomeness that was BUCK pony con 2013 in Manchester's Bridgewater Hall two weeks ago. Goodness where do i begin you know i was tempted to just vblog about my experiences like i did in the old days when I was on YouTube I would rather not and talk about the highlights in brief detail. I have so many great memoires and people I meet to remember BUCK by. I am proud i stayed and survived for the entire thing from Friday nights Summer Sun Celebration (a rave music concert of fan favourite artists) to late Sunday nights closing ceremony which was entertaining to say the least.

Of course the big deal about this con and the reason I brought it up on this blog was because i was going to sell my pony art as a vendor and take commissions there. (no photos of table sorry). It went very well no complaining or issues with the organization of the venue. I never realized I had quite a fan base for my MLP title card series and most bronies recognized me from that I had couple hugs off them as well.

I did not sell out like I thought I initially would but I most certainly broke even with the money I made from this event, which for a first time vendor is incredible.

But the business side was not my biggest highlight it was meeting other bronies from across Europe and the U.S (was not just UK fans) and show casing my ability in drawing and sketching. It was like the old days when I was 9 and 10 selling my art in galleries and I would be demonstrating my talents in front of crowds.

I even managed to meet some of the VIPs at the con including Michelle Creber a talented young VA and singer on friendship is magic. Gave her a personal drawing I did as an early birthday present she loved it, So that was just the icing on the cake to what was a floorless convention. My patents were helpers on the two days and they were surprised by how humble and pleasant our fandom is they did so well with managing my table.

 Only two downsides I can say that happened during the con.

 I almost destroyed my phone when it feels out of my pocket by mistake at the Summer Sun Celebration. 

 My hotel toilet flushing mechanism fell off while I was away on Sunday.

Right now I am in the middle of a pony commission haul since I was taking a lot of requests from fans there. Lineart / sketches were done during the weekend others I have been working on at home because of the requirements of my tablet and Photoshop.

It’s being a busy last week and a half but it’s been great practice for time management and balancing workload.

So much so that all my other passion projects have had to be put to one side for a while since I am making money off this venture and at the end of the day a creative has got to earn his income somehow folks. Look at the artists who draw and paint Marvel and DC characters for a living ponies could become pretty that for me if I keep going with the commissions a living .

Have no fear though the graphic novel project Humanise.com will still continue. I will try and post up a new submission for Illustration Friday each week to keep my crazy juxtaposing world of illustration going in my mind.   

For now this really is just a phase I am going through and I am going to enjoy it as much as I can and not worry about tomorrow.
