Jowy Shenanigans 22/2/13

its very bothering that there are no railings along most of york cities walls  which did scare me uh a little for kids safety

OK This has been a family focused week since we went down to York to see how my sister was settling in to university life after only four months. She’s been doing so well that I think we agree with her that she would rather not come back to Birmingham.

During my day visit to york city I did something I have not done in a while a bunch of observation sketches.

Also I developed on the world of Jowy some more looking at backgrounds and new characters that could fit in to the crazy cast of characters I already had.

This is a rather short post because my 22^nd birthday is tomorrow and I am excited for it or at least optimistic so I want to get an early night so I can experience the day wide awake.

There’s lots more to show but I will share that stuff after the big day

Until next post Laters  ;)

Jowy Shenanigans 17/2/13

The cartoon is a jowy version of the Steve Taylor album cover on the Fritz. Been listening to his albums almost each day and waking up with them playing in my head and i love it, His like the Alice cooper for Christian rock my dad says worth a listen too.

Yesterday was my uncle’s birthday not going to say what age he is though. We had a very special meal planed for him, which was in this restaurant on top of this tall building called the cube in Birmingham. Amazing vistas I even got some snaps from the top. His an accountant with the bank of America and I wanted to draw him something that highlighted his job that’s where this propaganda pink panther like cartoon came out

It can be our friend

I remember a while ago I saw a black and white 30s 40s propaganda animation on saving money and tax no idea who made it or the name of it which sucks because it was such a unique gem. I have been almost on the Fritz today because I misplaced my credit cards which could have ended horribly and cost me a lot but luckily I blocked them from been used so I am safe and should get my new cards In 5 days.

Also Today the 10yearItch web site i did the banners for asked me to do some more  paid artwork for them which is brilliant.

I competed the inking of my birthday card design for the woods trust series. See pervious post

I need to look at trees and leaves more its hard to capture them with just pen

I may have some more to share later on tonight  so stay tuned.

Wink wink nod nod say no more

But if not unitil next post LATERS  ; )

MUG SHOT lol

also the name of a jerk boss from Sly Cooper 1

You know I could do with a nice drink after all the development I have done for my personal projects today. And I kept to my schedule for once YAY. Yes I do keep scheduled times in my diary for what projects to work on each day as there are so many to consider.

Right now I should be witnessing the highly anticipated finale of MLP season 3 and jumping on the hype or hate but I want to upload this stuff now work comes first before ponies in my book.

"blasphemy"

Humanise.com epic comic project Development

I have wanted for about a week to get a polished coloured line up of the three main characters. Today was the day I finally buckled down and finalized a clearer idea of their physical appearance although they will not look so shall I say um….Disneyish in the final product.

Process time from start to finish

Mutt: is Cadras loyal pet who dresses as a cat for a reason i assure you

Cadra: (Ctrl/alt/delete) our heroine of the story who will be thrown in to the deep end

The Prince: no idea what his name is but he and Cadra will cross paths but not in the love kind of way  his a bit of a  D bag to put it light thats how my dads writing him.

quickly sketched out other characters i could create as line up sheets later on

i spend a lot more time on line art then colour with my characters to be honest

it seems coloured lines make ones work more animated looking which i like

Its not just Cadra who’s had attention today Jowy got some love as well.

Thanks to my close musically talented friend Cameron or C dog there may be an actual jowy comic sooner then later. I mentioned a while back he wrote 3 scripts for my characters and I was very impressed with his depiction of my crazy world. During intervals in between my busy life I did do some extremely quick thumbnails to layout the story and panels i did some more of them today. These are just a taster of whats to come. I am going to ask Cameron if its alright to put up his script of part 1 on the blog.

Lastly to round up the post is more news on my cartoons for the warley woods trust

To keep it short for those who do not know my woods runs a trust that do a lot of community work in the area and promote the woods in a positive light I have given myself the task of designing possible cartoons that they could sell to visitors as well as promote my services to professionals.

A finished example

These are some of the newer pieces I have been improving on in the series

i stopped this one because of the amount of detail and the line art was just not doing it for me it seemed less crisp compared to the others.

A woods themed birthday card why not

Phew thats it for tonight still a lot to think about and its my uncles birthday soon but his coming to see us tomorrow so i need to get him a nice picture done before then

until next post folks LATERS ;)

Jowy Shenanigans 15/2/13

I really wish that the deep recesses of my brain could think up another expressive word to describe how my week has been but here it goes. Hey it’s been a BUSY last few days so much so that i have hardly had anytime to continue with my personal projects. My stupid macbook finally ran out of space Thursday. So I spent the whole of yesterday deleting its useless baggage of files and programs. It is nice to have it refreshed and organized now.

Bring it on next week things will be different this time.

and now some tablet doodles i did in between everything else.

based on a true story expect the monster part and i do have a jacket like that.

i was thinking gerald scarfe some what

oh yeah this weekend this happens as well LET THE JOY ROAM FREE ?

Since I have started been more regular with updating and considering theres nothing to show for humanise.com or other work today I decided to archive or upload some of my older pieces.

they were either used for university work or personal goals to improve my art. I tend to be a very picky about what drawings and sketches I show on the web because I want to show the best of the best not stuff that looks like it was done four years ago.

anyway until next post LATERS folks ;)

these were comic pages i wanted to do for one of my own characters but it was nowhere near what i was looking for looking back at it now i quite like the roughness and inconsistent character design.

Jowy Shenanigans 11/2/13

Here we are again folks its been snowing outside today, I had my sister over the weekend back from uni. I talked for hours on Skype with brony friends and I am still working hard and boy what a weekend it was for said word.

The 10yearitch site that I have been doing paid illustrations for since last week asked me to design a FB banner for (to sound redundant) their FB page so it would give their services more publicity and it had to incorporate the logo as well. The time scale on this piece was shorter and there were a couple modifications to the design along the way.

The client wanted an Indian inspired character right below the Like button so It would look like he was pointing at it so you would be more tempted to hit that like and check out the site. They asked for a version without the boy and instead replace him with a tiger to show the wildlife of India.

The colours yet again were very vibrant showing the warm climate of the country. I really enjoyed colouring all these illustrations in because I learned more about my personal chose of colours and moods when doing digital art.

Their were a couple of changes in the final as you can tell I had to shrink it down to fit in to the FB cover dimensions the sky was a little too dark for the clients liking even though I personally thought it brought the back drop forward. And the character had to have his hand redrawn to actually point at the like button.

This body of work I am adding to my portfolio

I look forward to the next job I get where I can explore my adaptable styles in illustration some more.

Humanise.com comic project update time

CADRA and Mutt (main characters) will be happy to know that their masters have returned to the comic project Humanise.com today Hazzah lol. I got some actual page layouts done not draft ones but detailed thumbnails following the script I posted last month.

once i have finished drafts of these pages they may make a lot more sense ^^;

Its good to get back to this project and I feel confident about the story a lot more now that I have some layouts to look over and start actually finishing while asking advice from my Dad whose the writer of the series.

I am fairly busy with other shenanigans this week so there is not going to be much posted this week.....maybe but I shall do my best as always to upload and update as regularly on here as much as I physically can.

until next Post Laters  ;)
