Much needed Jowy Shenanigans update 10/3/14

Now I feel is a good time as any to tell you the current situation Jowybean is in.

Bad news: first is last week I left my full time illustration job that i had briefly mentioned in my last post. But it was not because of malicious reasons or that there had been any complaints made about me it was just that the work I was producing was not playing to my visual strengths or what the company were ideally after and the time I was taking on the projects was slowing down their schedule. they were extremely nice human beings and the boss did give me some contacts to get in touch with to find a better job closer to my dream job as a storyboard character/background and concept artist for the creative industry. I will not lie in saying that I am a little sad it ended so quickly (the pay was unbelievably good) I assumed I was going to be there for a good year or so but this is the brutal world of business I live in nobody has time to slow down.

So here I am monday and back to square one hunting for a new job and hoping to find one really soon. I already have contacted some old industry friends of mine for guidance.

Other important things to know regarding cons and stuff for the rest of the year

Sadly due to time and job hunting American pony cons look to be less likely this year. :doh:

On the other hoof BUCK 2014 you can bet your sweet flank I will be going there :headbang: :nod: vendoring .With a whole lot of new prints postcards and lots of exclusives that you will not want to miss trust me there going to be big. ;)

the other trip I would love to do is to take a trip to Japan with the travel agency www.japanjourneys.co.uk. I am eager to go on their manga tour in august the trip would all be focused around the areas pop culture and anime of the nation. I so dearly love Japan =D :love: and will move there at some point in the future its a big long term goal of mine ^^;. I have become a bit of an Otaku over the last month and half watching a lot of different anime and documentaries on its history.

As I type this I have two cute Lucky Star figures of Kiagmi and Tsukasa In their winter uniforms sitting on my desk  so I am in the zone as it were with japan Plus I really enjoy the simplicity and fun of Lucky Star.

Now taking in account this trip is going to be 8 days before Buck I would be asking a lot of myself and my body to travel that far and back :faint:. but I feel its something I want to achieve this year getting to japan. though now i think about it america would be much cheaper.

Just have too see but BUCK 2014 is a EEYEP :woohoo:

what does the future hold for the blog well for now i am going to continue to upload illustration Friday pieces on here and once i start working on humanise.com i will be posting WIP and information on here.

if you want too see my really rough sketches my tumblr is the best place for that. i don,t really have a clear idea what i want to do with my blog. it been very much an experiment 

I am in the process of creating an online Jowybean website to expose my art to more people and future clients online. that should be up in the next two months

Jowy Shenanigans 19/10/13 big update

As my dad would sarcastically say “Hello you o,rrible lot” and welcome to another update on the world of Jowybean let me bring you up to speed with what’s happening in my busy consistent creative life.

Number one the job at the graphic Design sinage company UK Print and Media is going extremely well. So far no complaints at all, my boss Akeel (who I have become real good friends) with has been very firm with the tasks that need doing with in the week and i have found myself surprisingly enjoying the programs Indesign and Illustrator. Really makes you think about the level of professional quality in your work and art. Graphics is not something I have touched or paid attention too since college which was four years ago so it’s a nice breath of fresh air to be doing it again with a better mindset.

Next month there’s going to be a local 2-day handmade craft fair in my town called Crafty Muthas. Now the name obviously implies that its targeted at one particular audience (as there’s a lot of craft fairs in England that are similar to this). I emailed them a brief description about me and my products I was going to sell, my DA gallery links and talked about the whole MLP brony thing. Two days later they emailed back saying they had a space free on one of the two days for me which is cool I would personally like too do both days but the fair is very popular with creative mothers that its only right that it should be broken down in to two days to give all vendors a chance.

I am going to be bringing most of my work I brought to the showcase event I attended two months ago to Crafty Muthas. But since it’s near to Christmas I am going to be creating some new Xmas cards both pony and non-pony to sell there started work on two last week.

Third no shocker too some of you, still doing pony art and commissions its very additive fun. I am slowly getting a good income from this not as much as my real job of course but still all this money will go towards my planed trip to the US pony cons next year or Comic Con depends how productive I am in the next few months. Considering I have hardly touched any of GTA 5 in the last 4 weeks proves that laziness and boredom are becoming less coherent as they used to be.

I started livesteraming recently and I plan to do more in the coming weeks. My first experience was very positive, did not shut up for a whole three hours I love to talk sometimes folks if you know this blog you understand what I mean.

Because of all these shenanigans I have postponed the development on my Jowy web comic and Humanise.com, which I am a little disappointed to stop But I have to concentrate on the markets I am currently involved in to break into something then nothing. Please still support and check out the projects on my DA account we will return to them soon enough it’s not dead.

Plus I am making the effort with illustration Friday again so you can always see my crazy zany illustration style there.

   

I apologize if this comes off as egotistical and pride fall but I personally believe that I should get paid for my art from now on what ever type it is that’s why I do not accept any requests that much on DA its just very time consuming and I have to make a living off my talents at some point friends.

Wow this post has taken me literacy over half an hour to write I will bid you a fare well  and good day and let you enjoy a small galley of my recent art from last few weeks

 first week I helped Akeel design a welcome home banner for his cousins son who with his wife just had an adorable baby girl and were coming home from the hospital. One thing lead to another after I meet Akeels cousin and I ended up being commissioned to do a caricature of them both together with their baby from one photo. =D 

Stupidly I forgot their names but they loved it I herd so that’s the important thing.

Jowys blog world is slowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww dude

Man Why do i secretly get worked up over keeping my blog super updated its not like the megaliths from Stonehenge are going to be dropped on top of me if i do not update within a few days or hours i guess its the feeling of losing something or someone if i just leave it for long periods of time.

Anyway i will have a big update tomorrow seeing as i am too busy thinking right now to cerate one.

Your Drawing Sucks
i only discovered youtuber Jacksfilms your grammar sucks yesterday night but it was too funny not to parody.

Hey guess what ... its Monday night and I am feeling good so much so that i wanted to bring you all up to speed on what is going on.

Right now most of my projects are all under control and going at a nice steady pace for me to plan ahead and keep focused on certain important tasks. Still looking at going down the self-employed avenue and taking courses that specialize in this area of work. The daily hunt for jobs has paid off as well with many different people interested in using my skills for their work. I need to ask my newest client if it’s all right for me to post up the development for his project I am currently helping on.  No spoilers but I will say for now is it’s a bit more challenging then what I usually have done but its not an impossible thing.

Lets dive in to tonight’s updates then

Two weeks ago I thought to myself I need to start archiving or referencing media and shenanigans I see in a week because its very frustrating if you forget a funny joke or artist you randomly came across and I always want to be about the random and referencing so I started doing illustrations combining these memories with my wacky roger rabbit Todd schorr inspired world of juxtaposition.

I would have done one last Friday but I had my graduation ceremony.

10YearItch travel site banner illustration job

Since last update I have been designing more colourful banners for them because these banners are being used for very specific subjects that I could not really illustrate the client decided on a similar design to the first illustration where it showed off the icons of architecture in India and its wildlife.

Drawing buildings with that amount of detail and shapes is very difficult to get right. 

I got the two pieces done in the spam of 4 days even though I extended the time frame because I thought I would become super involved in my own personal goals.

Jowy comic development

I want to make a bio page for the characters in the story but first i need some good illustrations to show off their personality best. 

A while back I had hinted at this possible jowy comic that me and my musical friend Cameron are creating but never did any more development of it until today. I decided to redo my surviving thumbnails as bigger cleaner drafts of the final product .

 Thinking of making it a web comic series as it would be less time consuming then inking it in on paper more practical with a tablet.   

Humanise.Com comic  and Warley Woods trust cartoons will have their own update later this week.

Jowy Shenanigans 6/3/13

CARDA and Mutt of Humanise.com are getting inpatient

I feel my concentration has been slipping a bit recently .I have been distracted by two big things in the last few days. 

First is the Manga Gunsmith cats by kenichi sonoda the problem is and this a complement not an issue .There are so many twists in the story that leave me wanting more by the end of the volume that I have to read on. I cannot lie in saying that Sonodas style has hooked up back in to reading manga and watching anime. Then there’s the fabled time-lapse videos that I can spend a whole day watching because its very inspiring to me how these videos are able to capture so much life in a city or natural environment seriously just a simple recording of a guy driving around London streets for 39 minutes sparks my imagination so much but wastes precious art time.

Speaking of time I better not ramble on again as that’s for facebook and Twitter.

Humanise.com comic project update

Slaked a little with the development but brought some bigger pads to start designing bigger roughs for the final inks. Starting with the splash page, as it will introduce us to the universe in one huge detailed illustration I am dreading and looking forward to doing this particular page.

10yearItch website job update

The client was not too happy with the characters I drew in the centre of the composition for the question banner. So we changed the middle to fit in a huge question mark, which works ok in my opinion but it gets the message cross.

Warley woods Trust cartoon series

This month I am looking at finally visiting the local woods thrust to advertise this series I have been eveloping on since the start of the year I plan to make the cartoons part of my brand and business plan as I am slowly working on that so I could start selling my brand and cartoons to the public to get more recognition in the dog eat dog world

I do not like to repeat myself online but I will try and update more regularly because the guilt of leaving this blog alone for even five days scares me.

After a long wait since starting

This epic project i finally was able to upload what story my dad had written to introduce us to this universe i hope you enjoy what we have put together for the narrative as of now we are continually developing the sagas of the story. 

Update on the character names the dragon pet is called mutt because his wearing a cat costume yet CADRA (the framer girl) thinks his a dog just for humor purposes

The Prince if I remember correctly we named RDAC its CADRA spelt backwards uh I think  

I totally would be happy with CADRA and RDAC being the offical main characters names
