Jowy Shenanigans 16/6/12

no idea what to call my new posts now so the above will do for now

Hooray i can start posting up general drawing and fun stuff on here now.

And since its fathers day tomorrow what better way then to show off the front of the card i have made for him as well as another small doodle i did for someone else who loves traveling a lot.

 Humour ensues Obviously

My Dads really in to PC RPG games or games of that type of genre and he enjoys fantasy in general so i designed him to be like a RPG character. Also I recently watched Game of thrones season one two weeks ago and it seemed appropriate to try out a genre of art i tend to avoid because there’s so much of it and plenty of talent for it.

The joke with the Dwarf is an inside joke as my Dad is writing a really interesting novel that i think will push the clichés of fantasy and si-fi to new levels but i will not spoil it as it is his thunder not mine just enjoy the image.
The Dwarfs pose looks like his smelling his stupid arm pits but its the thought that counts and i like the sketch as a whole.

'That’s a very nice sword you
Have there be ashamed if
something were to happen to it' LOL

The original sketch for the idea

I have done a lot more digital drawing and painting on my Wacom tablet than traditional pieces so it seems special to give him something made handmade for once

Until next post LATERS ; )

So much for regular updates then (sigh)

I must apologize for not bothering with my blog for a while my major project work became more demanding then I imagined and after working hard on it for a day I just was too tried and lazy to post up an update on its process never really drew that much fun stuff during the project either because of it.

Well I am pleased to say that I finished the major project two weeks ago and have just had my end of year degree show at my campus which has been pretty successful i herd a lot of positive feedback on my illustrations as one of the best which is good to hear. I will be getting my final grades online next Monday exciting and scary stuff anyhow I bet your wanting to see what the final product is from what updates I have made on this project. To stop this post becoming too long I will keep the synopsis of this project simple by stealing word to word my DA description of the project.

Project Description

My Major Project intention was to explore how my ‘Todd Schorr’ inspired visual language could translate in to a written piece of text or story.
As it is the 448th celebratory year of William Shakespeare’s birth, I decided to illustrate Shakespeare’s ‘7 ages of man quote’ from the play “As You Like It”.
I have illustrated each stage using fine-liner pens creating marks, influenced by the woodcuts of Gustav Dore. Each illustration contains fine details and has an obscure reference to animation, games or the Internet.

See if you can spot them

Age : Infancy

'At first the infant,
Mewling and puking in the nurse's arms.'

Age: Childhood

'The whining school-boy with his satchel,
And shining morning face, creeping like a snail
Unwillingly to school.'

Age: The Lover

'And then the lover, sighing like furnace with a woeful ballad
Made to his mistress' 'eye-brow

Age:The Soldier

'Then a soldier,
Full of strange oaths, and bearded like the pard,
Jealous in honour, sudden and quick in quarrel,
Seeking the bubble reputation even in the cannon's mouth?'

Age:The Justice

'And then the justice,
In fair round belly with good capon lin'd,
With eyes severe and beard of formal cut,
Full of wise saws and modern instances;
And so he plays his part

Age: Old Age

'The sixth age shifts
Into the lean and slipper'd pantaloon,
With spectacles on nose and pouch on side;
His youthful hose, well sav'd, a world too wide
For his shrunk shank; and his big manly voice,
Turning again towards childish treble, pipes
And whistles in his sound . . .'

Age: mental Dementia and Death

'Last scene of all
That ends this strange eventful history,
Is second childishness, and mere oblivion?
Sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everythi
ng.

Now that my time is uni is over it is time to think about what’s the next best step. A masters, promoting my work online more often or entering competitions and briefs. I feel I need to challenge myself some more with this unique style of illustration i have developed
criticism and feedback would be appreciated thanks.

Until next post LATERS ; )
