Birmingham's Jewellery Quatar then and now illustration 13/6/15

sorry It was too big to scan, but i got a decent photo of it framed.

This is my newest Illustration that has been submitted for The RBSA (Royal Society of Birmingham Artists) upcoming friends exhibition.
It is of a place in Birmingham called the Jewellery Quarter a famous place where a lot jewellery is made.
This is my interpretation of the area that features its landmarks. businesses, and historical figures that founded the area.

The illustration was coloured with pro markers and uni pin pens. and took about 15 hours over a period of a few weeks.

I am quite proud of this illustration and hope to do more of this type of work in the future.

Jowy shenaggins 23/3/15

Apart from character sketching I enjoy sketching urban environments for my imaginary worlds and for future illustration ideas.

these are aerial views of my fictional city hub Ramusuville.

These sketches are inspired by the concept of creating illustrations combining the UK and japan together both in entertainment and culture.

Jowybean shenaggins 11/12/15

I occasionally play GTA 5] and every time I go back i find myself intrigue by the aesthetics of the world. How Los Santos differs from the countryside. How L.A landmarks and buildings are recreated to fit in to the city layout. How far you an see from the beach towards the Rockford Hills. the scale and detail is just so impressive :wow:. I have sent more then 2 hours of my game time just wondering around exploring rather then causing any chaos.  :)

Recently I came across an article talking about GTA 6’s possible locations these included Paris, London (which is confirmed by Rockstar that it will not appear in the franchise again), Hong Kong, Cairo and of course Tokyo.

All these places that I mentioned got my imagination stirring. But no surprise Tokyo was the one that gave me the inspiration :meow: and challenge to design a rather sketchy open world map of the said city. I tried to in vision how the in-game world would look like and used this as a starting point for shirking Tokyo to fit in to a sizeable open world space. then I took in to account well known and less known landmarks, parks and the diverse environments you would get in a metropolitan area.

I will point out that I am by no means an expert or know much about Tokyo or Japan  (I want to change that). but after sketching this map I can at least say I feel more educated on how Tokyo functions at the size it is.

My hope is in the future that we will get a game set in a modern day Japanese city not necessary like GTA (Rockstar see it as an American franchise) and not even to the scale my map is. I have faith in developers that there will be more open world games that will be set in places that hardly ever get explored or shown.

Now for Something Completely Different 4/2/15

For the last few days i have had the inspiration to create traditional illustrations that reflect the juxtaposing of two different countries to crate one massive metropolis.

In this case its  the UK and Japan.

I used some obvious tropes to represent both nations examples being the old pub for the UK and the narrow streets for Japan.

Now for Something Completely Different 14/1/15

Architecture and city environments have always been a big inspiration and fascination in my art since I was 10 years old. A lot of my early work that I became known for was to do with buildings and modern city planning. these types of illustrations usually ended up having a fantastical approach to their architectural designs some that mimic what we have today.

examples of old work below

Despite how busy I am with commissions and other projects on my DA account I have found myself longing for the old days. I set aside time to have a go at drawing my fictional architecture/ landscapes, while putting in to practice everything I have leaned and improved on, from perceptive to line thickness.

the difference is amazing but my loose style of sketching is still visible.

Humanisation.Com project update13/11/14

Humaniztion.com

1000 years ago earth is wiped out by war of neutral bombs. At this time the Internet, as we know it was been updated and had began to think independently. Now 1000 years later the Internet has transformed in to a virtual reality where severs websites and programs of all kinds have become living breathing beings connecting together to from a thriving metropolis. Our two main protagonists CADRA the normal farm girl working in the code fields and Mutt her pet dragon suddenly embark on an epic quest to find the code that could bring down the controlling powers of the big bosses Google Apple and many others but what is this mysterious code you say?

The story is being written by my Dad and drawn by me. After a long hiatus we have finally decided to bring it back to life =D and get some actual pages done before the end of year.

This universe works in a similar way to Honnouji Academy from Kill LA Kill in that the lower you are the more deprived you are in society
the city is always constantly growing and expanding so theres no sense of gravity or logic.

The fields at the bottom are the code fields where poor framers plow up digital resources to give to the world for power.

Only way in to the metropolis is on the information highway

Although my intention was not this i do get a bit of a Studio Ghibli vibe off the art. =D
Keep an eye out for more concept art and WIP pages of Humanisation.com :)

Some more Sever designs today. Its Facebook and Steam or lord Steam as I like to call him

Jowy shenanigans 3/9/14

Value speed paintings of two areas within my crazy mad world both exist in the same city called Ramusville which is one of many city hubs I have designed over the years for my characters.

Two of them are seen in the top sketch Jowy and Max Holinder
