Missed Illustration Friday submission and tiny update

Hello everyone i wanted to do a quick post because i missed last weeks Illustration Friday submission which was on the theme of shadows 

this was going to be a dramatic contrasted illustration when i started.

Since last week i have started working longer hours at the graphic design job and doing brony commissions which have taken up a lot of my time so i may miss a few IF challenges to make my life that little bit more easy to manage otherwise i could end up burning myself out  before the end of the year and that would be a disaster.

So much to do in so little time.

Humanise.com comic project update 26/6/13

Been able to get a couple more pages inked in and started work on the biggest eye candy of the first issue the giant double-paged spread introducing the viewers to the world of the Internet my style.

Humanise.com is an Epically ambitious comic/graphic novel of mine that is been written by my dad. and drawn by me

The aim of the page is to cram as much internet culture , memes and general wackiness to establish the galaxy sized city of the web after million years when the story is set. My laptop is currently filled with screenshots and names of websites i came across from all spectrums of the World Wide Web.

Jowy Shenanigans 28/3/13

Hmmm...My last update was on the 18^th and today is the 28^th this is posted how’s that for a coincidence.

I felt lazy with the blog last week but I had good sound reasons for this. One being I was sick mostly.

Two I got accepted on a scheme called BSEEN Its a 6 month Crouse in the fundamentals of business run by my old university. I went along to the first two meetings last weekend and it was not only insightful and helpful but also encouraging because I meet a lot of potential new clients and contacts that could give me jobs to help my freelance career.

I continued my new Friday series of illustrations that reference videos and jokes from surfing the web and real life in the week.

Tried to be a little more inventive by looking at an interior I would like to make this a weekly thing because I have found doing these pen illustrations to reignite my passion for my craft when I start to lose that momentum to draw.

The TV monitor with the scrunched up face is reference to talented youtuber Jacksflims Your Grammar Sucks series . A hilarious look at the bad comments the web comes out with he even sings and raps in some of them.

The three characters in the middle next to the anthro lion women are references to two cute Russian cartoons I found on YouTube the week before

And finally the weird looking character in the bottom right is a reference to a Brother Mcleod animated short called Isle of Spagg

They are one of my favourite independent animation studios they do a lot of weird animation but its bound to catch your eye with its bizarreness .

No updates for the comic Humanise.com sadly I need to get a bigger scanner because I have started drawing in bigger drawing pads and I would rather not use my kodak camera to capture the development of the rough pencils. I need to discuss the story with my writer (dad) as well before we move on with the project no use just rushing in to it for the sake of it.

There has been a lot of character development and world building done for my Jowy character and other ocs that will link to the recent news about a Jowy Web comic being made that my friend Cameron and I are working on in between our important jobs.

The best and easiest way to describe the concept for Super Cream Pie Robot Space Pirate Guy is if you mashed up Darkwing Duck, Freakazoid, Hong Kong Phooey and the anime Ranma 1/2 in to one crazy cartoon.

Since the start of this year I have wanted to send more time developing my OCS and their world. Since its consistently evolving in my mind to new exciting wacky concepts that are defining my unique sense of humor and cartooning everyday.

I imagine my world right now as being like a Tiny Toons and the Animaniacs cartoon where there is a huge cast of interesting characters who all exist in the same universe/environment but have their own separate stories and adventures. That’s the format I am basing my Jowy characters around and it seems to be working for what I have planed for each of them. Ramsusville is the city most of my main characters will come from

Fact time

SCPs special weapon is custard pies and he wears under wear under his nappy because he has some ounce of dignity.

Prince Odd Ball: is the loyal friend to SCP and his weapon is clockwork monkeys that drop bouncy bombs. 

Eugene: rhino/raccoon hybrid is a smart individual and communicates by signs as a humorous reference to the panda in Ranma ½ he tends to get his master out of trouble as well (Hong Kong Phooey style) 

Scales and Jenny Frost: are two elemental girls that conflict with each other all the time and SCP has full responsibility of them as their uncle.

The toast kingdom is a fairly new idea I came up with just to make my world that much more weirder folks. Its Inspired by the ancient Egyptians and knaaren from Rayman 3 .

The as of now unnamed Queen of the Toast Kingdom  is a powerful monarch and dictator but she is madly in love with the king and listens to his advice even if he is just an old jam jar.

Wow this update was not as long winded as I thought it was going to be 

i have other thing to talk about but i need to ask some of my clients if its ok with them to make these public. 

Well i am glad i was able to update you once again. i am going to go off now and watch some more of Bioshock Infinite playthroughs because that game from a visual and writing perspective is interesting  until next post  folks LATERS ; )

Jowy Shenanigans 8/2/13

Consternated on the 10YEARITCH website job for the second banner design. Tried to get it to a similar standard as my first banner. This time it was for the destinations page and i wanted to look at other icons to represent India then going with cliché or copycats of the pervious design. 

India is a fascinating and colourful country 

the flute character was taken out because the clients felt he seemed out of place or unneeded and the text was changed to the web address so my art work could stand out a lot more. 

Looking forward to the next lot of work I do with this site but this weekend I want to spend some time on the other projects that need some loving and attention.

Plus I need a haircut ^^;

Jowy Shenanigans 7/2/13

I woke up this morning had my breakfast did all the usaul things one does to prepare himself for the day ahead. I stare in to the bathroom mirror look sternly in to my refection and mentally shout WHAT HAS JUST HAPPENED.  

The thought of all the unfinished projects I am currently doing (I counted about five last time I updated my DA journal) has hit me kind of hard today. Like weights falling on top of me it’s a whole new feeling I have never really experienced to this degree.

Now I do exaggerate a little its not being that draining but the last few days have challenged my time and patience.

i also did this crazy animatic storyboard thing inspired by the intro to the band Within Temptation song Enter on tuesday night to keep my creative mind going. 

I tend to ramble on a lot in posts because I like to be in depth with my work and make it more interesting to look at and think about. But today I want to keep it nice and simple. Just because of my current mood, which is set to tiredness I have worked a lot this week.

I applied to a paid job on Elance to redesign the banners for an online idian Travel portal site called 10-YEAR ITCH where they advertise a range of different itineraries and destinations for the country.

I been the adaptable illustrator I am decided to submit my proposal with examples of my illustration work attached and they considered me for the job then once I showed them my thumbnail ideas I had for the banner they accepted me for the work.

The time scale for the whole thing was about 6 hours over two and a half days and it was coloured in Photoshop CS6.

They liked the finish piece so much that they now want me to help out with the websites other pages, which could include twitter, and face book so it’s an exciting time to finally get some paid work for professional use.  

Speaking of pay another friendly brony on DA asked for a paid commission of another fan fic called Blunder and Lightning which I just finished last night.

I know this stuff may be pony related and I tend to leave my fan art off ths blog but its still work related so its only fair. 

and now the process of said commission without any words because it explains itself. 

right i am going to take it easy now rest a bit and come back  refleshed and  ready to get going on all the other projects.

Jowy Shenanigans 9/11/12

The development of Humanised.com (ambitious comic project)

Today i wanted to concentrate on panel arrangements and use the script my Dad has written for the story so far to get some feeling for action and movement. The last thing i want to have is beautifully detailed backdrops and set pieces and just static stiff characters and poses. This world needs to show richness of life.

i can going to ask my Dad nicely if i can put up the whole draft script so you can understand a bit more about this whole universe and its existence (no idea for characters names as i have now reason for Annabelle).

Yes her eye is sightly bigger than her other but i am still  working out her final design, and for that matter the whole cast. I have noticed a bit of  Katsuhiro Otomo influence in the way i do people recently especially from the sides and chins. 

Evaluating what i have done today i think the next step is too get started on the splash page and try and  polish up the finish on this page ready for Leeds thought bubble next weekend .
